Mark Harkin | Practice Principal

Mark initially trained as a draughtsman working for a large corporate body and studying at Teesside Polytechnic. Having worked in several architectural practices and design offices holding such positions as architectural section leader at British Steel plc and project co-ordinator for the Trafalgar House Group, Mark setup Harkin Associates in early 1988.

 

The practice has established a wide ranging and diverse project portfolio covering bespoke dwellings, residential lifestyle accommodation, extensive work in the commercial and retail sectors and countless projects in the specialist fields of industrial, offshore and chemical engineering.

 

HA has also provided through term appointments, an architectural consultancy service to a number of corporate organisations and leading architects practices & consulting engineers to provide extensive design and detailing services on a number of key urban regeneration, hospital, health care and education facilities. Not limited to the UK, HA has carried out work for projects in Dubai – Dubal Falcon Project for K.Home Int., Malaysia – Gunawan Iron & Steel Complex for Mason Pittendrigh, Saudi Arabia – Wadi Sawawin Project for British Steel Overseas, the Republic of Ireland - Bantry Bay Development for Tarmac and USA – Relocation of Food Production Line from Seattle Factory for Hibernia Foods plc.

 

Carrying out the strategic management of the practice, Mark utilises his particular skills in user consultation to establish a working brief, concept design, detailing, co-ordination and site administration.
